About the WJ Group

Founded in 2007, WJ Group has established an excellent reputation for being a forward-thinking, hardworking and entirely customer focussed business.

Our vision is to be the market leader in high-quality timber engineering and ethical timber treatments.

Through inspired employees, we provide innovative products and services to our customers in the timber and leisure homebuilding markets. We do this as simply as we can, by being fair, open & honest, whilst being committed to challenging the norm.

History

WJ Components Ltd was established in 2007 to manufacture and supply timber components, such as roof trusses and floor joists, to the leisure building sector of the well-established caravan industry in Hull. As the company’s skill set developed, the project range evolved into offering a number of metal components, including aluminium water heater flues and steel furniture frames.

The venture was a success and allowed the company to diversify into opening its first timber treatment facility in 2009 on Alexandra Dock, Hull. The setup granted WJ the opportunity to offer both high and low-pressure preservative treatments to timber importers, through one of Hull’s main ports.

In 2012, WJ Timber Treatments Ltd was established and the company opened its second timber treatment facility, in the town of Rochester. It was a prime location for WJ to provide a treatment service to importers transporting large volumes of timber through the Medway port.

Following in the same entrepreneurial spirit, the company again looked to diversify its product range, through its innovation with timber. The company developed an anti-slip decking solution for its customers, by fitting a resin and bauxite solution to deck board grooves. The project led to further development in 2014; the creation of the DeckWright brand, a retrofit anti-slip insert, which can easily be fitted to decking at home. Today we sell and distribute the DeckWright kits through a number of UK stockists and our very own e-commerce store.

In 2015, WJ moved its Hull timber treatment plant to Tower House Lane to facilitate future growth, which led to the introduction of a fire impregnation treatment, to complement its existing preservative products.

The company made its first i-beam solution for the caravan sector in 2017 and has this year seen the introduction of BURNBLOCK, the UK’s first eco-friendly fire retardant treatment. To coincide with this, WJ Timber Treatments has installed its third treatment facility, specifically designed to control the impregnation process of fire retardant timber.

Today the company is a proud supplier to some of the best caravan manufacturers in the UK and it provides some of the most established UK timber importers, construction firms and architects with preservative and fire retardant impregnation treatments, to coincide with its anti-slip decking solutions.
