Last month the Challenge Cup came on tour to the WJ Group head office in Stoneferry, Hull as part of the company’s partnership with Hull FC. It’s a historic piece of silverware that’s insured for tens of thousands of pounds, but thanks to DeckWright Anti-Slip inserts there were no slips with the trophy.
WJ started working with Hull FC around a year ago to promote DeckWright, including advertising at the rugby league club’s ground the KCOM stadium. The tie up with the Hull FC team highlights the city roots of the innovation.
“It’s a product that is designed in Hull but it’s sold nationwide,” said Mark Eggleston, WJ Group Managing Director. “All the components are manufactured in Hull and even the packaging is from Hull.”
Many of the WJ Group team involved in the creation of the innovative DeckWright product are also keen Hull FC fans.
WJ Group Commercial Manager Neil Allison said: “There are many people who want to see the Challenge Cup but they would never be able to get close-up to it so it’s great to be able to bring it here so members of the WJ team can have that experience.
“It’s great for us to be seen to be supporting a local sporting team which will help drive our business forward and support the brand and having the trophy here at our head office has been fantastic.”
