We’re delighted to welcome Andrew Pantry to WJ Group as Treatment Plant Manager for our Hull timber treatment plant. This will further strengthen our core team whilst working towards a more optimised management system for our busy site as business continues to grow.

Andrew brings 28 years of timber industry experience with him, both in manufacturing and continuous improvement management roles. Alongside many years of working for MFI in the manufacture of kitchens and bedroom doors, Andrew has more recently worked at timber company, John Brash as Kaizen Facilitator. This role focused on continuous improvement in addition to lean manufacturing, training and coaching. One project saw Andrew set up a system to increase batten yield from 32% to 73%.

Using his continuous improvement experience to full effect at WJ Group, Andrew has developed a plan to streamline daily operational systems at the Hull treatment site, ensuring a sustainably efficient system that will support our customers in terms of timescales and short notice capacity increases. Andrew already has this improvement plan underway.

Mark Eggleston, WJ Group MD comments: “We’re delighted that Andrew has joined the team and can offer real focus on developing the efficiency of our Hull timber treatment site on a day-to-day basis. The company as a whole is growing and it’s important that we put additional key people in place to ensure that our business plans can be met, with a sharp focus on our customers’ needs.”

Of his new role at WJ Group, Andrew says: “I have now found a progressive company that suits my background and experience. I look forward to continuously improving all aspects of the Hull timber treatment site whilst having the opportunity to develop my own knowledge and skillset in a company that actively wants to grow and develop. It’s also a pleasure to get to know WJ Group customers and see how I can make a positive contribution for them, where timber treatment is concerned.”

A keen golfer, who is married with two grown-up children, Andrew is currently Vice Captain at Boothferry Gold Club – playing off a handicap of 13. He is also keen on DIY and spending time with his family.
